Dec. 1 – World AIDS Day

Posted in real talk by msdisdain on December 1, 2009

Today is World AIDS Day and while we are considerably better off with information and technology now than we first were at the advent of this illness, please take a moment and send your collective energies to those who are currently suffering and to those who have lost a friend, family member or close confidant to HIV/AIDS. No matter the progression, the stigma that comes with HIV/AIDS is hurtful. Understanding the facts is key to fighting prejudice and promoting education. One of my best friends is HIV positive. If putting a face to the stigma helps you to fight judgment in favor of compassion, take a look around. HIV/AIDS affects all of our communities.  Please reflect and remember on this day and always.

Think. Learn. Act. Be.
